What happens if I delete cookies and temporary internet files on a regular basis? Will that delete my updates so that my program NEVER works correctly?

When you download files from the internet, your internet browser saves these files as a convenience so you won't have to download them again. With updates to software, the file name stays the same but the content of the file has changed. Your computer can not tell that the file has changed slightly, so it won't let you download the same file again. The only way to fix this is to clear your browser cache or temporary internet files. This action will just delete the downloaded file and will not hurt your software because the file you downloaded before was installed into your current software and is not needed any longer.
